Missouri Boys Class Three Final basketball ratings - March 24th, 2021
Could a team have a finer season than 31-0 with several noteworthy wins over top-ranked large class schools? I doubt it. The Hartville Eagles were the unquestionable top-class three school all season and they proved they were champs by capping off a nice semi- and final-game sweep the weekend before last.
What a heart-breaking season for Greenwood, who were just a half of a point behind the Eagles (137.3 vs 136.8)? You might wonder how Greenwood could only a half-point back because they lost to Hartville by 15 and by 3 in head-to-head games? But the rating is based upon all games and these two teams' ratings are just a hair-breadth apart, although Hartville would get the nod on their two convincing wins of the Animu Mohammed-led Blue Jays.
Hartville only had three really close games, the sectional vs. Greenwood (+3), Kickapoo (+3) and Viola Arkansas (+4), coached by Rick Luna which won the class one Arkansas state championship. Who knows how good Hartville really was? If they had played Vashon or Cardinal Ritter, Chaminade or CBC? They might still be the only undefeated team in the state.
