Class Six Missouri Boy's Ratings - March 21st, 2021
Congratulations to the Kickapoo boys who won their third State Championship with a solid victory over a gritty and physical Liberty team. The final score was actually closer than the game went, as Kickapoo was up by about 20 midway through the third quarter.
Even more impressive was their rout of Chaminade after a game that was back and forth for three quarters. Only a buzzer-beating three by Anton Brookshire (that rolled in and out and in several times) gave Poo a 48-45 lead going into the fourth. The game was still tight with under two minutes left before desperation three misses by Chaminade led the breakout dunks in the last minute. The 18 point difference was not indicative of the game flow. I had Chaminade as the top team in class six prior to that semi-final loss and needed to over-weight the game result to bring Kickapoo above Chaminade. If you want a better explanation of my top teams, read about my Conundrum here.
So my ratings reflect the entire season but put emphasis on the final four results. The state champion is going to be my top-rated team but you may be somewhat surprised by the top ten. My Conundrum calculations will help you understand why certain teams are in the grouping.
