Missouri Boy's and Girl's Class four sectional predictions - March 8th, 2021

There is a wonderful review of class four boys by Earl Austin Jr. over at PrepHoops Missouri.  Earl really has a handle on the players and I respect his opinion immensely.  I have tried, to no avail, to get him to consider using my team ratings on the PrepHoops Missouri website.  When you click on the link, there are five classes but the page is empty.  I will keep trying with the hope of someday making the big time.

I agree on most of his picks with a few exceptions but when teams are rated as close as these teams are in a playoff situation, you can flip a coin and almost be as accurate as me.

There are a couple of differences in what we do.  I rate teams on past scores.  Earl rates teams on his long experience in evaluating talent.  But I also do this for the Girls and, maybe one day, Prep Hoops will hop on the Girl's evaluation too.

So Prep Hoops and several other supposed sports blogs have listed their picks for the sectional games tomorrow.  I will go a whole lot farther.  I am giving you all the picks to the championship games for both Boys and Girls.

So here we go.

Boys:

It will be another championship for Vashon and I expect them to face an undefeated Pembroke Hill in the final, although Pembroke Hill is only one-tenth of a point better than Westminster.  It could be an all-St. Louis final.  I believe Earl and I had the same teams winning tomorrow, although we both could be wrong on the Ava-East Newton game.

Girls:

When you look at the Girls class four bracket you could think you still had the boys bracket up because many of the same schools have both boys and girls teams represented in the sectional games tomorrow night.   I find that interesting. because other than Scott County Central, no other school has won the boys and girls championship in the same year and Scott County Central has done it FIVE TIMES in the 1980s and 1990s!

It is very possible that the Vashon girls could join the boys in winning a state title this year.  They have a strong, physical team and have only lost to perennial powerhouse Incarnate Word Academy.   The main impediment to dual titles is an impressive Westminster Wildcat team that is just a couple of rating points behind Vashon.

Should be an excellent class four tournament for both boys and girls.
