March 9th Boys Sectional Predictions - Gramps 19 Godfrey the Cat 17

 As you know, I have (in jest) accused a certain premiere basketball writer of having his cat Godfrey make his boy's high school basketball picks.  I have had three cats and  I know how they like to get up on the desk or on your lap and paw at you for attention.  They want their head or neck scratched and they are persistent about it.  You finally have to give in and spend some quality cat time, listening to them purr as you scratch under their chin.  And, God, please do not try to stop and get back to work or you might get swatted across the chin!

So yesterday, Godfrey, along with some other Twitter pretenders, put out some predictions for classes four, five, and six boys games tonight.  With my rating system, I have been hitting about 80% of my district games and I realize that the success rate is going to drop at some point. 

Most of the basketball authorities write just about the guys.  I also made girls' predictions for their games on March 10th.

So how did we do tonight?  I picked 19 of 24 games (79%) correctly tonight while Godfrey, ignoring my ratings, picked 17 out of 24 (71%).  Not bad for a cat, but not as good as this accomplished statistician.

But as they say out in rural Missourah, "Even a blind mule can find water" so I will keep working at it.

Missouri Boys High School Basketball Ratings - All Classes 12/07/2020

On this 79th anniversary of Pearl Harbor Day, let us remember the brave men and women who gave their lives for our great country. I posted Pre-Season rankings for Boys and Girls Missouri High School teams in mid-November.  A bunch of Thanksgiving and early December tournaments have provided me with data to populate the statistics for a robust ranking.  Robust it is not.  I won't have a good handle on team ratings until the end of December when most teams should have five or six games under their belt. I am still waiting for MSHSAA to post classifications and district assignments, so I will not post class rankings until that info is known.
