Missouri Girls Class Two and Three district seedings and State Predictions February 19th, 2021
Corrected 5pm 2/20/2021
I am running out of time. The Boys and Girls districts start tomorrow for classes one through three and I am a day late and a dollar short, so I will post the Girls class two and three together.
In class two, here are my final eight and state championship predictions:
Oran over Neelyville by two
Schuyler County over Salisbury by eight
Blue Eye bests Richland by four (would be a good state final four-game if it wasn't a sectional)
Wellington-Napoleon over Tarkio-Fairfax by three
State Championship game: Blue Eye beats Schuyler County by 13
(but the semi with Blue Eye and Wellington-Napoleon will be closer)
In class three, here are my final eight and state championship predictions:
Lift for Life over Woodland/Twin Rivers winner by sixteen
Miller over Strafford by one (actually too close to call)
Tipton (or Monroe City) over Palmyra by eight (The Tipton-Monroe City game will be great)
Skyline over Lawson by 15 (the Skyline vs. Barstow sectional could be a championship game)
State Championship game: Lift for Life over Skyline by one
Note: I had Lift for Life over Miller in the original post but districts 1-4 play districts 9-12 in the top brackets and 5-8 play 13-16 in the bottom bracket.
The championship game could be Skyline, Miller, Lift for Life, Tipton or Monroe. Just that tight at the top. But I am going out on a limb with Lift for Life, a 500 percentage team that has played a tough St. Louis schedule and competed well with Vashon and several other larger class schools.
I will revisit these later as we get into playoffs. The covid pandemic could throw a team or the whole tournament in disarray.
