Missouri Boys Class Three basketball districts and state playoff predictions February 19th, 2021

Updated after district games on Feb. 24th

As I said on my last post, I am running out of time on classes one through three.  District playoffs start tomorrow and the time has just flown by.  I posted girls classes two and three together.   I had already posted boys class two previously, so here are my Missouri class three boys basketball predictions.

I really hope the state playoffs go down without a hitch.  We have been so lucky to not lose the season to covid but I see more and more teams quarantining and it would be devastating to not be able to play during the districts or sectionals.

And what happens in most years?  The real Championship game is played in a sectional game between Hartville and Greenwood.  What about a new playoff setup, MSHSAA?

Here are my final eight: 

Thayer beats DuBourg by four

Christian O'Fallon gets by a great Monroe City team by three

Hartville edges Greenwood by three again?  THIS IS THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Skyline beats St. Pius X Kansas City by sixteen  (the Skyline-Summit Christian game will be close)

State Championship Game:  Hartville (or Greenwood) over Christian O'Fallon by 12

  Premise:   If VPS (Value Point System) directly correlates to a team’s winning percentage, why not use it as a metric to drive team improvement? Missouri Boys High School Basketball Ratings - All Classes 12/07/2020

On this 79th anniversary of Pearl Harbor Day, let us remember the brave men and women who gave their lives for our great country. I posted Pre-Season rankings for Boys and Girls Missouri High School teams in mid-November.  A bunch of Thanksgiving and early December tournaments have provided me with data to populate the statistics for a robust ranking.  Robust it is not.  I won't have a good handle on team ratings until the end of December when most teams should have five or six games under their belt. I am still waiting for MSHSAA to post classifications and district assignments, so I will not post class rankings until that info is known.
