St. Louis Area Boys Large and Small High School Basketball ratings - January 8th, 2021

I know.  I know.  I already posted a boys St. Louis area ratings earlier this week but, as Bob Dylan sang, "These times, they are a-changin' " and so I thought I would repost Large and Small school ratings.

Yesterday, I posted a prediction on a De Smet school tweet that Chaminade would win the game by eleven.  I watched the game and it was a  back and forth battle of two great teams with De Smet within three or four with about a minute left.  The contest was in doubt but then several key baskets and free throws allowed Chaminade fans to breathe a little easier.  It would have been an eleven point win, had not one of the 'Nade players taken a break-away pass in for a resounding dunk at the buzzer.  He should have pulled it back out.  The Spartans will remember that, next time around when Chaminade plays at De Smet on January 19th.  Besides, I had the spread prediction right and they screwed it up.  LOL.

Remember to put the CBC games with De Smet (Jan. 22nd, Feb 2nd) and Chaminade (Jan 15th, Feb 19th) on your calendar.  And don't forget the Vashon game at CBC on February 16th. Those will ALL be special games.  The pandemic is a downer but isn't live-streaming a dream come true for basketball fans?

I also saw the Soldan -Kirkwood score, with the Pioneers pulling out a 62-60 win.  Most polls haven't had Soldan on the radar but I had them rated right behind Vashon in small schools.  They are good, but not that good.  Soldan will be a handful for most opponents but MICDS has moved up to number 3 behind Cardinal Ritter and Vashon with their convincing 15 point win over Christian of O'Fallon.

I saw some good news from the northside yesterday.  It sounds like the Jennings and Hazelwood teams are beginning to practice and should be back by late January or early February.  Wishing all of them success and good health.

Right now St. Louis has some great basketball.  Unfortunately, it is sometimes difficult to gauge how well teams are doing.  Covid quarantines are taking one or two or more athletes out of the line-up and so the scores are more drastic than I can remember.  When you expect to see a team win by five or ten and the game difference is 30, you have to think someone is either hurt or in lock-down.  I feel for these kids who just want to play and the coaches who continue to hope to get in a full schedule of games.

Don't forget to check over at @810Varsity or www.810varsity.com for my Missouri Top 20 boys by class. Chad Rader will be posting girls also, starting next week.

Here are my revised St. Louis area large and small school ratings.
